GoChain has seen a significant increase in its use in the sustainability space, driven by its partnership with Chainparency and the US Endowment for Forestry & Communities and other non-profits and NGOs focused on conservation and responsible supply chains. All of the U.S. Endowment’s ForesTrust Network companies are either currently using or will be using GoChain for their supply chain data collection and track and trace initiatives including Enviva, Wakefield Biochar, Thompson Appalachian, Domtar, and more.

While GoChain has been working on this for years, the use case that is surfacing is companies focused on sustainability and responsible supply chains. With this, GoChain is becoming the blockchain of choice for this type of work.

And this is just the beginning, beyond just supply chain, there is work being done with carbon and emissions tracking as well as tokenized carbon trading. There is a lot of interest in these areas and being a green and enterprise focused blockchain, GoChain is the obvious choice. We hope to see these new areas come online in 2024 or early 2025.

Summarizing the multitude of ways that GoChain is being used in the sustainability space are:

  • Collection field data at a product’s point of origin
  • Tracking the carbon footprint of products and services
  • Certifying the sustainability of products and services
  • Creating a transparent supply chain for products and services
  • Enabling consumers to make informed choices about the sustainability of their purchases

GoChain is well-suited for this type of work because it is a secure, scalable, and environmentally friendly blockchain. GoChain uses a novel consensus model called Proof of Reputation that ensures the organizations that use it have assurance that it is operated by ethical organizations around the world. Some of these organizations include RMIT University, Global Roundtable for Sustainable Beef and the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund. GoChain is an open blockchain with public APIs which makes it easy for businesses to integrate into their existing systems.

As the sustainability movement continues to grow and the regulatory environment increasingly requires additional diligence and traceability requirements in supply chains, GoChain is well-positioned to be a leader in this space. The company is committed to providing businesses with the tools they need to make their operations more sustainable, and GoChain is the perfect platform for this.

Here’s to an exciting, fruitful and sustainable 2024! 🚀
